Lt.
Alan May, MPA
Alan May is a career police officer currently
holding the rank of Lieutenant at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office where
he is assigned to uniform patrol operations. He began his law enforcement career
in 1982 with the New York City Police Department. In 1987 he entered the ranks
of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his many years in law
enforcement he has worked in uniformed and plainclothes patrol operations,
investigations, narcotics investigations and airport law enforcement. He has
served as the commanding officer of the Sheriff’s Office Training Bureau and the
executive officer of a patrol district.
Alan May earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business Administration from Northeastern University and completed his Master of
Public Administration degree at Florida Atlantic University. He is an honors
graduate of the nationally recognized Southern Police Institute at the
University of Louisville.
He is certified as an instructor in numerous
police training systems and disciplines. He is an adjunct instructor at Palm
Beach Community College where he is on staff as a Police Academy and an Advanced
Training instructor.
Alan May is a charter member of the International
Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and a member in good standing
of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Southern Police
Institute Alumni Association, the Police Benevolent Association and the Pi Alpha
Alpha Honor Society in Public Administration.
