PPSC Staff Profile JENS P. HEIDER
Jens Heider is yet another former Smith & Wesson Academy staff member to join the ranks of the PPSC. During his nearly seven year relationship with Smith & Wesson Academy, Jens Heider earned the reputation as being one of the most tireless, focused, committed professionals on its staff.
Jens began his relationship with S&W Academy as a contract consultant, whereby he was tasked with organizing the S&W Firearms Training Center GmbH, Nuremberg, Germany. Mr. Heider structured and managed this operation from 1996-1999, after which he joined the Academy staff in Springfield, MA, USA. It was through this diverse tenure with S&W Academy that Jens Heider became adept at working with police, military and security personnel in and from many countries.
During this tenure at S&W Academy, Jens was called upon to employ his vast experience in the field of executive protection and defensive tactics, which were put to very effective use.
Mr. Heider's crowning achievement at S&W Academy, before the Academy was eviscerated, was his development of a comprehensive, "Less Lethal Munitions Instructor" program. Heider's expertise in defensive tactics and less lethal technology make him a very valuable asset to the overall PPSC mission.
After leaving Smith & Wesson in 2001, Jens took over operations of the Beretta Shooting Academy in Switzerland. He remains a frequent presenter at regional law enforcement training conferences.
