Course Overview
Whether on or off duty, the contemporary law
enforcement officer must be aware of the full spectrum of issues
applicable to carrying a handgun concealed. Just as training for
uniformed officers must reflect real-world concerns, so must those
working in non-uniformed and non-traditional roles be prepared for the
unique operational challenges they might face. Just as importantly,
agencies that require, encourage or allow the off-duty carry of handguns
must be prepared to provide proper training to support existing policies
within this realm. This course offers a critical foundation in the
support of agency policy and training pertinent to concealed carry
handguns.
While this program can be taken as a stand-alone
skill development course by officers wishing to hone their concealed
carry knowledge and skills, it is especially beneficial to firearms
instructors tasked with assuring their agency’s competency with
concealment handguns.
Upon completion of this course, the officer will be able to:
-
Identify specific policy
concerns pertinent to the off-duty concealed carry of handguns.
