PPSC TRAINING DIVISION

  Beginning in April of 2006, the Police Policy Studies Council will begin using an ideal training facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This outdoor facility is amenable to training almost every day of the year, thanks to its remarkably favorable blend of altitude, latitude and low humidity. The winters and summers in Albuquerque are relatively mild.

Below is an aerial view of the Albuquerque Range Facility

The above range currently offers the following features;

  • 650-Yard Rifle Range, with capabilities extending to 950 yards

  • 10-Room "Shoot-House" that is 5.56mm capable.

  • Three 50-Yard Pistol-Shotgun-SMG ranges

  • A 50-yard "Donga" range

  • CAPS® Live-Fire Video Judgment Simulator, which facilitates scenario-based training with most small arms, including sniper rifles to 100 yards.

  • In excess of 70 steel targets, and two "Running Man" target systems. All of which are manufactured by industry leader, ACTION TARGET®, Inc.

  • Outdoor lighting, adjustable to needs, is available throughout much of the facility.

  • Nearly two acres are allocated for student parking.

  • On-site classrooms are projected to be available by April 2005

      The range is operated by the Albuquerque Police Department, and is being utilized by PPSC through a special lease arrangement with the City of Albuquerque. This agreement requires that all prospective students sign a "Hold-Harmless Agreement," indemnifying the City of Albuquerque in the event of any possible injury incurred while training at this facility.

     Of particular interest to students flying into Albuquerque is the convenient location of the training facility, situated a short distance off of I-25. The range complex is within 15 minutes of the International Airport, as well as a variety of hotels and eating establishments.

For further information about attending courses offered at this facility, please contact PPSC for additional details.
